Laura Jean Castelluzzo, LAc, LMT, graduated with a Master of Science in Acupuncture in April 2011. For two years and eight months, she attended the Finger Lakes School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at the New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, NY, ten miles from her hometown, Geneva. In October of 2005, Laura Jean graduated from the New York Institute of Massage Therapy in Williamsville, NY.
Laura Jean has been diligently dedicated to a path of wellness and spiritual growth since 2001. For over nine years, she was in an ongoing spiritual development class with Native American Elder Tahwehdahqui on the Tuscarora Nation. Laura Jean has been a leader in the community - organizing music, poetry, raw foods and other wellness related events, facilitating personal development classes, and increasing her skills by attending leadership workshops. Laura Jean is a graduate of the following LifeStream personal and professional development courses: LifeStream Basic 2000, IPI (interpersonal intensive) 2002, and Leadershape 2009. In 2005, she team led a LifeStream Basic. Also in 2005, she put on a 5 hour personal development course with Aaron Piepszny, called “Learning To Thrive,” at the Porter Center in Buffalo. This is one of many personal growth and spiritual development courses that Laura Jean has taught since 2003. Laura Jean also offers private life coaching, emotional healing, energy clearing and re-balancing.
Laura Jean has been highly involved in and a supporter of performing arts as well. At the height of Castelluzzo’s massage practice pre-acupuncture school, in 2007, she released a CD of original music, which featured special guest artists, called “Waking Up.” This CD received a favorable review in The Finger Lakes Times in an article titled ‘Music That Feels Good.’ Laura Jean’s intention with this CD was to create another avenue for people to be edified, in this case with upbeat music and inspiring lyrics.
While in graduate school for acupuncture, which started in September 2008, Laura Jean maintained a massage therapy practice and directed the Buffalo Wellness & Art Center. Castelluzzo started the Center in May of 2006, and for the first two years she shared the space with several practitioners and hosted many organizations and workshops, including Life Cycles Center, Le Leche League and Sufi order of Buffalo. Looking to broaden her horizons after graduation, she closed the Center in July of 2011. After a bit of searching for the right place to build a practice, she is happily practicing acupuncture and massage therapy at Phoenix Rising Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork in the Elmwood Village. Phoenix Rising conveniently resides at the front end of Fierce Fitness Gym, 167 Ashland Ave. near the corner of Bryant St.
For over a year, Castelluzzo offered community acupuncture at Evolation Yoga and Wellness Center in North Tonawanda. She is now focusing most of her practice and energy in Buffalo at Phoenix Rising, but is also available for private sessions at Evolation in North Tonawanda.
Laura Jean Castelluzzo’s latest big accomplishment is the Wellness Weekend Festival that she organized for the first time last year while on the board for the not-for-profit organization, Sanctuary at Crowfield Farm. The festival took place on Sanctuary’s Sundance field in Newark, NY on August 10-12, 2012. She is now organizing the festival for the second time, to be held at the same place on August 2-4, 2013.
